MOTM4L at the United Nations: Inspiring the Next Generation Through Human Rights Education

Young people need to know that their voices matter, their rights matter, and they have a place in shaping the future. That is why Tyrone Gardner was proud to attend a Youth for Human Rights International event at the United Nations.

Being at the United Nations was a powerful experience. The event brought people together around an important message: every person deserves to be treated with dignity, fairness, and respect. Youth for Human Rights International focuses on educating young people about their human rights and helping them understand how they can protect their rights and the rights of others.

This message connects closely with the work MOTM4L does every day in our community.

We mentor young people, create opportunities, provide support, and help youth see possibilities for their future. Education is also about learning how to become a responsible citizen, how to speak up, how to respect others, and how to make a difference.

Human rights education can give young people the knowledge and confidence to use their voices. Youth for Human Rights International highlights 30 basic human rights, including the right to education, freedom of expression, equality, food and shelter, and the right to live with dignity.

These are lessons that can help young people better understand the world around them and their role in their communities.

Attending this event was a reminder of why mentorship matters. When young people are given the right tools, positive role models, and opportunities to learn, they can begin to see themselves as leaders.
