MOTM4L Mentees Enjoy Special Night with Lu Dort and the Oklahoma City Thunder
Mentor on the Move for Life is always looking for opportunities to expose our youth to positive experiences that inspire confidence, create lasting memories, and reinforce the value of hard work and perseverance.
Earlier this year, our mentees were invited by Oklahoma City Thunder star Lu Dort to attend the Thunder's game against the Brooklyn Nets. For many of the young people in attendance, it was an unforgettable opportunity to experience an NBA game up close while cheering on one of the league's most respected players.
The excitement began long before tip-off. From entering the arena to watching some of the world's best athletes compete, our mentees were fully engaged in the experience. The highlight of the evening came as they watched Lu Dort take the court and contribute 10 points in a hard-fought game against our hometown Brooklyn Nets.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Lu Dort for thinking of our youth and providing them with this incredible opportunity. Acts of generosity like this create meaningful moments that young people carry with them long after the final buzzer sounds.
While the Oklahoma City Thunder ultimately fell short of reaching the NBA Finals this season, their impact on our youth was already a championship-level victory. The opportunity to witness professional athletes competing at the highest level, while learning about the dedication and discipline required to succeed, provided valuable lessons that extend far beyond basketball.
Experiences like these are an important part of the MOTM4L mission. Exposure to new environments helps young people broaden their perspectives, build self-confidence, and recognize that opportunities exist for them both on and off the court. These moments reinforce an important message: with commitment, determination, and support, they can achieve great things in their own lives.
